Welcome to our veggie car
webpage!
I purchased a 2000 yellow Beetle in September 2005, and had
it converted to run on used vegetable oil soon after. The following video is a quick overview of how it all works:
In our latest adventure, we’re planning a cross-country
eco-video travel project coming up in May/June 2009, where our family will take
our veg-powered Beetle across the U.S. and make eco-video profiles of renewable
energy technologies and will spotlight people who have made contributions to
sustainability. My 9-year-old son Carrick has won several awards (MSN, US
PIRG, etc.) with our eco-videos which have been seen online by over 200,000
people, and our video travel project is the next step for us in getting the
message of renewable energy and sustainability out there. Our goal for
the project is to create a documentary for young people that shows 1) that a
nation of renewable energy is very much a reality using existing technology, 2)
examples of how our country can have a sustainable economy and will be stronger
for it, and 3) that everyone has a voice to be heard, and that the internet
allows individuals to spread their message like never before - look at what a
9-year-old kid and an old camcorder have done! Our video explains the project:
Here are some articles that I wrote a few years ago on buying a used diesel, and filtering used veg oil:
